The 78th Independence Day of India was celebrated across the state of Manipur yesterday. District administrations organized parades at their headquarters to commemorate India’s freedom struggle and promote the message of unity.
Kakching:
Kakching District joined the rest of the nation in celebrating the 78th Independence Day enthusiastically and jubilantly. The district-level event was held at the DC Office Complex, where Deputy Commissioner Rohit Anand, IAS, hoisted the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute accompanied by National Anthem.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, DC Rohit Anand announced that the rehabilitation process for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have officially begun in the district. He mentioned that various skill development programs have been initiated for those in relief camps, including training in Kouna craft, crochet dolls and the hospitality sector. He also noted that, as of now, 20 students from the district are participating in the hospitality sector training under the Government of Manipur and the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India. Upon completing this training, these students, currently residing in relief camps, will be assured employment, enabling them to create a better future for themselves.
While highlighting the success and contributions of different district departments, the DC conveyed his appreciation to all the stakeholders involved in managing over 5,000 IDPs sheltered in relief camps in the district. Adding that their role in ensuring the well being of the displaced persons is significant.
Rohit Anand further announced that the Government of Manipur has initiated reconstruction of houses for those destroyed during the violence. Presently, a total of 165 houses in the district are under-construction in different phases and with this, 165 families will get back to their homes soon. He added that this forms the initiation for the broader rehabilitation process. The DC also appealed to those living in relief camps to come forward, approach the District Administration, and help in rebuilding the lost houses.
He informed that the District Administration is making all efforts to introduce a bus service from Serou to the Kakching Headquarter in order to facilitate the students who have got admission in schools in the District Headquarter. DC Rohit Anand further elaborated that the Health and the Education Departments are effectively trying to make schools and colleges fully functional. He also assured that institutions and health facilities non-operational for the last one year will be operational soon.
In his closing remarks, the DC asked everyone to remain united in their resolve and strive for a better tomorrow for themselves and generations to come. He reminded them that no challenge can stand in their way and they can continue to build a better society if they work together.
In today’s function, Parade Commander AK Premjit Singh, MPS, SDPO Kakching commanded 11 march past contingents. The participating contingents were Civil Police Contingent, Kakching District, VDF Contingent, Kakching District, Traffic Police Contingent, Kakching District, Kakching Higher Secondary School Boys Contingent, Kakching Higher Secondary School Girls Contingent, MMS Genius Academy Girls Contingent, Grace Cottage Academy Girls Contingent, Wabagai Higher Secondary School Girls Contingent, ASHA Kakching District Contingent, JRD Path Seekers Boys Contingent, and JRD Path Seekers Girls Contingent. The Band Platoons consisted of personnels from the 3rd India Reserve Battalion (IRB).
Senapati:
Senapati District marked the 78th Independence Day with festivities at the Sanyi Dahrii Complex in Khabung Karong. Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, IAS, presided over the event, beginning with the hoisting of the National Flag. The ceremony featured performances by students from Greenwood School and a parade with 20 contingents from various security forces, including the Manipur Police and CRPF. B. Lunthang Vaiphei, MPS, OC-Tungjoy PS, led the parade.
Bishnupur:
At the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur celebrated the 78th Independence Day. Deputy Commissioner Lourembam Bikram, IAS, hoisted the National Flag and led the National Anthem. The parade included 13 contingents, with Potshangbam Sanjoy Singh, MPS, DSP (CDO-I)-Bishnupur, overseeing the proceedings.
Churachandpur:
The 78th Independence Day was celebrated at Peace Ground, Tuibong, with Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S. leading the event. The ceremony featured a flag hoisting, a Rashtriya Salute from 25 parade contingents commanded by SDPO Thomas Haokip, and cultural performances, including a bamboo dance. Certificates were awarded to 107 government employees and special recognition was given to 10 schools housing IDPs. The event also included a pledge against drug abuse under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Chandel:
The 78th Independence Day was observed at Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School ground in Japhou. Deputy Commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar, IAS, presided over the event, which began with the hoisting of the National Flag and the National Anthem performed by the 21st Assam Rifles band. The parade featured 23 contingents led by Subedar A. Mothil of the 8th Manipur Rifles, with notable attendees including SP Shivanand Surve, IPS, and Commandant S. Somorjit, IPS.
Tengnoupal:
Tengnoupal District celebrated the 78th Independence Day with Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, as the Chief Guest. The event featured performances by the District Police, 3rd Assam Rifles Band, 49th Battalion BSF, and various cultural troupes. A Bike Rally was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign. The event was attended by SP Rahul Gupta, IPS, and other officials.
Kangpokpi:
At Brigadier Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi District celebrated the 78th Independence Day. Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, hoisted the National Flag and reviewed a parade of 24 contingents, including Police, VDF, NCC, and school students, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police SL Kamkhohao Lhouvum, MPS. The event was attended by SP Manoj Prabhakar, IPS, and other key officials.
Noney:
Noney District held its 78th Independence Day celebrations at the DC’s Office Complex in Longmai. Deputy Commissioner Sharath Chandra Arroju unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade. The event was attended by SP Noney Namsadai Peter, ADC Stiff Khapudang, and other dignitaries, including 19th Assam Rifles personnel.
Jiribam:
Jiribam District celebrated Independence Day at the Jiribam Higher Secondary School Playground. Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, hoisted the Tricolour and reviewed the parade featuring contingents from the 87th Bn. CRPF, 7th Bn. IRB, and Jiribam District Civil Police, led by T. Inaobi Singh, MPS, SDPO Jiribam.
Kamjong:
Kamjong District observed the 78th Independence Day at the Kamjong Higher Secondary School playground. Deputy Commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter, IAS, hoisted the National Tricolor and reviewed the parade led by Semmi Ramror, MPS, Additional SP. The event included cultural performances and the presentation of commendation certificates to outstanding public servants.
Ukhrul:
The 78th Independence Day in Ukhrul District was celebrated at Bakshi Ground with Deputy Commissioner Smt. Zuringla Kengoo, IAS, leading the event. The ceremony included the hoisting of the National Tricolor, a parade with 27 contingents, and performances of patriotic songs and dances. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dinringam Kamei, MCS, SDO Ukhrul.
Pherzawl:
Pherzawl District celebrated the 78th Independence Day with Deputy Commissioner Asish Das hoisting the national flag and reviewing the parade. The event was attended by SP T. Lalboy Haokip, ADC/ADM Zosanglur Joute, and other dignitaries, including several village chiefs and a large number of locals.
