Imphal West district administration today evicted illegal encroachers at Lamphel Sanakeithel (near Shankar Talkies) today morning at around 10.30 am. Police team face strong resistance from those occupying the government land however, the situation was put under control and the encroachers were evicted using JCB vehicles.
Interestingly some area at which the police team along with the district administration tried to evict showed documents of procuring the land. How and under what circumstances those occupying at the northern portion of Shankar Talkies Cinema Hall manage to get jamabandi of the land is could not be known at the moment.
Around 200 sheds constructed near Shankar Talkies Cinema Hall at Sana Keithel were evicted today.
Those occupying the area expressed dissatisfaction to the action of the government during this hard time.
“We are left with no jobs due to the lockdown and we have no place to go now, the eviction could have done after the situation improved” , a person told media persons.
