The Advanced Legal Forum, Manipur and Centre for Manipur Studies, Manipur University organised a discussion program on ‘jurisdictional issues of the ICC and India’s International Law Obligations: an appraisal’ today at the New Social Science Block II, MU.Attending the discourse as Main Speaker, Prof. RC Borpatra Gohain, Dean and Head, department of Law, GU said that human right is universal not nationalised. But the Indian government doesn’t follow the rule. He added that the implication of AFSPA in North East region increases the enrolment of youths to insurgent groups. Even Irom Chanu Sharmila is fasting and protesting against the draconian Act, AFSPA fighting for human rights; why not replace this act by a different act which is more human, added Gohain.Prof. N. Joykumar, Director, Centre for Manipur Studies, MU, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Brara, Associte Prof. Centre for Manipur Studies, MU, Dr. Homen Thangjam, Assistant Prof. M.B. College, Imphal also attended the discourse as, President and Observers respectively.
