The Janjatiya Gaurav Divas-2024, Chandel in connection with the 150th Birth Anniversary of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda was launched today at the Multipurpose Hall, DC Office Complex, organised by District Administration, Chandel.
Speaking at the event, Md. Firoz Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Chandel said, “ The Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan scheme is to be implemented by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The aim of the scheme is to identify underdeveloped areas within these districts and provide comprehensive support for their development and will be backed by the efforts of 17 different ministries of the Government of India to ensure its success.”
As a part of the event, different items were distributed to beneficiaries under different department of District Administration, Chandel. The event was attended by SDO Khengjou, SDO Chakpikarong, CMO Chandel, Manager of Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) and District Agriculture Officer, Chandel.
The same was officially launched today at the SDO Office Complex in Tamenglong District. The event was graced by Kachamthai F Gangmei, MCS, Chief Executive Officer of ADC Tamenglong as the Chief Guest, Josiah T Pamei, MPS, Additional SP as Guests Of Honor.
The chief guest in his speech stated that on October 2, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan in Hazaribag, Jharkhand. With an outlay of over Rs. 79,156 crore, this ambitious program aims to address critical gaps in social infrastructure, health, education, and livelihood development across approximately 63,843 tribal villages. He also said that the Abhiyan benefits over 5.38 crore tribal people across 549 districts and 2,911 blocks, spanning 30 states and Union Territories (UTs). It integrated 25 interventions across 17 ministries and departments of the Government of India
Nganthonang Daimai, a prominent community leader, took the opportunity to address the gathering, urging senior citizens to pass on their knowledge and values to younger generations. “It is crucial for them to show good qualities and not hide away what they have learned throughout their lives,” he emphasized.
He also voiced concerns regarding the government’s old age pension scheme, stating that the current amount of Rs. 200 per month is insufficient and does not reflect the respect that elders deserve. “The government should consider segregating pensions based on age to better cater to the needs of our senior citizens,” he added.
District Administration Noney also launched the same in Multipurpose Hall of Longmai -3, Noney District Head quarter in the presence of Dr Sharath Chandra Arroju, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Noney, Namsadai Peter Pamei, MPS, SP/ Noney, Stiff Kaphudang, MCS, ADM Noney, Christian Home, SDO/ Haochong and other District Level Officers.
Noney DC Dr. Sharath Chandra Arroju exhorted the gathering to follow the footsteps shown by the tribal freedom fighter and leaders like the Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He also appealed to all the DLO’s of the Noney district to work sincerely and selflessly for the development of the district and urged the gathering to co-operate with the district administration in every sphere for the welfare of every denizens.
