DESAM rescued a minor girl from advocate’s hand

Imphal, July 16: Democratic Students’ Alliances Manipur (DESAM) today rescued a 12 years old minor girl from the hand of an advocate who kept her as domestic helper at her house at Sagolband Sayang, Imphal. The girl was found by the volunteers of DESAM while running away unable to bear the torture of the advocate.

“Early today morning at around 09.00 am, volunteers of DESAM found a 12 years old minor girl who had run away from the residence of R.K. Milan, Advocate and R.K. Linthoi, Sub Inspector at Sagolband Sayang Leikai,” said DESAM, President, DESAM, M. Angamba in a press conference held at its office today.

He said that when the girl was asked the reason for running away she said that she had been beaten up using wire of laptop charger blaming her to have sabotage the laptop. She bore marks of bruises on her back and on her neck.

The girl who is scared and traumatized said that she was asked to massage Linthoi’s body and in case of negligence she was brutally assaulted.

The girl’s mother identified as Nongthombam Mema, w/o. N. (L) Ratan from Khumbong Makha Leikai, said to media persons that the girl has been staying at the residence of Sagolband for her further education. She said she never would have imagined that Linthoi and her family would do such heinous act. Mema further said that she was fallen sick for six months and couldn’t meet her daughter during which the monstrous incident took place. She also said that her younger sister was also kept with her at the same residence.

Angamba further condemning the incident said that it was very unfortunate for a learned lawyer to violate the law. The student body urged to take legal action against the accused and appealed to the concern authorities to take further action.
