Imphal, Nov 11:

Editor of the Sanaleibak Newspaper , Hemantakumar Ningombam has lodged a complaint to the Imphal Police station for taking up necessary action against one Yengba Meng Luwang along with his associates for uploading defamatory comment on social networking site Facebook on November 11.

According to the complaint lodged to the Officer In Charge of the Imphal Police station , the Facebook user in the name of Yengba Meng Luwang has uploaded a defamatory statement in connection with the MC (PIL)) No. 51 of 2020 (Ref: PIL No. 49 of 2018).

The FB account user by the name Yengba Meng Luwang posted – “SANA LEIBAK NEWSPAPER GI EDITOR OIRIBA HEMANTA NINGOMBA DA MU GI ADMINISTRATOR MAYANG MACHA NA LAKH KHARA PIRAGA PIL THAHANKHRE. MAYANG MATHI LEKPA EDITOR”. This literally means that, Hemanta Ningomba was hired by the present Administrator of the MU to file PIL besides using slang words.

This perhaps not only hurt the sentiment of the reputed editor , Hemanta Ningombam but Imphal Times also consider such derogatory comment as an insult to all the Editors of local dailies as well as those working in media.

Imphal Times seriously condemn such a comment to a reputed news editor and also urged the police department authority to arrest the said person who is trying to spoil the image of the reputed editor at the earliest possible time.

Imphal Times also urged the Editor Guild Manipur (EGM) and the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union to condemn such act of the person.
