Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Losii Dikho, expressed strong condemnation to the deadly attack that took place in the Kotlen and Kotzim areas of Kangpokpi district on Wednesday, describing it as a brutal and senseless act that undermines ongoing efforts to restore peace and harmony in the state.
In a condemnation statement, Losii Dikho said the incident claimed the lives of three persons and left three others injured. He expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Rev. Dr. Silthou, whom he described as a champion of peace, along with other respected church leaders.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed that he, along with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, MLAs and officials, visited Shija Hospital in Imphal to enquire about the condition of the injured persons and assured that the government is closely monitoring their treatment.
Appealing for peace and de-escalation, Losii Dikho urged citizens to remain calm and refrain from retaliatory actions. He also appealed to the authorities concerned to facilitate the release of detainees as a step towards reducing tensions and promoting dialogue. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and dignity of all citizens and called upon all stakeholders to uphold the rule of law and work collectively to prevent such incidents from recurring.
