Imphal, Dec 23: More than 70 people have died while waiting in queue for withdrawing money at ATMs across the country since the demonetization announcement on November 8 by the Modi government and the common people are still bearing the brunt even after 45 days of the announcement. A press release signed by Chabungbam Premchandra Singh, President Manipur State Committee, Democratic Bharatiya Samaj Party (MSC/ DBSP) states that demonetization will not solve the menace of black money which is inherent in Neoliberal and Neocolonial systems. The need of the hour is to develop a system where social, economic and cultural institutions can be made to check corruption, the release stated, adding that the demonetization is not a move to abolish black money but is an act of war on the citizens of the country which have to be faced with grit and valor while reflecting on the need to cull in the black money circulating in the country and abroad.
