Delegation from Sylhet calls on Manipur Assembly Speaker

A delegation of the Manipuri Cultural Youth Organisation (MYCO), Sylhet, Bangladesh, called on the Hon’ble Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th. Satyabarta Singh, on October 7, 2026.

The delegation discussed various issues concerning the socio-economic situation of the Manipuri community in Bangladesh, along with matters related to cultural preservation and support for the Manipuri diaspora.

Welcoming the delegation, Speaker Th. Satyabarta Singh expressed his commitment to strengthening the social and cultural ties between the Manipuri community in Bangladesh and the people of Manipur.

“A beautiful exchange of heritage. Had a fruitful conversation with the delegation of the Manipur Youth Cultural Organisation (MYCO), Bangladesh, on cultural preservation and support for the Manipuri diaspora,” the Speaker said.

He further highlighted the importance of strengthening cultural ties and keeping the rich Meitei tradition alive among the Manipuri community in Bangladesh.

The delegation invited the Speaker to visit Bangladesh, which he accepted, assuring them that he would visit at the earliest opportunity.

The interaction underscored the shared cultural heritage of the Manipuri community across borders and the importance of continued engagement to preserve and promote this heritage.
