Decomposed body of a woman found in Wangjing river

A decomposed body of a 60-year-old woman was found floating in the Wangjing River near Lamding Laikol in Thoubal district on today morning.

The deceased has been identified as Khundongbam Bidhumakhi, 60, daughter of late Khundongbam Paibi of Heirok Part-II Mayai Leikai under Heirok Police Station.

According to local sources, Bidhumakhi had been missing since July 22, and her disappearance was reported to Heirok Police Station on July 24.

Sources said she had been married but had subsequently returned to her parental home. She was also reportedly suffering from liver and heart-related ailments and had experienced mental health difficulties at times.

Following the recovery of the body, personnel of Thoubal Police and forensic experts conducted an examination. The body was subsequently handed over to the family.

Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding her death.
