DC Churachandpur inspects 20 relief camps in Tuibong Sub-Division

CCpur, April 5:

Deputy Commissioner of the Churachandpur district, Dharun Kumar S today inspection 20 relief camps located across Tuibong Sub-Division on Friday.
These relief camps were set up to shelter Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) following the ethnic violence that erupted in Manipur on May 3, 2023. Managed primarily by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), the camps provide essential services including shelter, food, clean drinking water, health cards, medical aid, and other basic necessities to the affected families.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the displaced families and listened attentively to their concerns and grievances. The IDPs voiced their need for improved water supply, enhanced storage facilities, consistent medical support, and financial assistance. Specific requests were made for aid towards establishing a library at the Sadhbhavana Relief Camp, along with support for children’s education and livelihood activities.
In response, the DC assured the camp residents that their issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for prompt redressal. As a gesture of goodwill, t-shirts and sweets were distributed among children in the camps. The DC also took time to inspect various handloom and handicraft products made by the displaced persons, encouraging their efforts toward self-sustenance.
On the return journey from Ngaloi Relief Camp in Songpi Block, the Deputy Commissioner and his team visited the ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Farm Science Centre) at Pearsonmun Village to assess agricultural development initiatives in the region.
The visit underscored the urgent need for sustained humanitarian support and collaborative efforts to rebuild the lives of those affected by the conflict.
The DC was accompanied by ADC/SDO Tuibong Shri Seiminthang Lenthang, SDC Kimkhanching, CMO Dr. Vanlalkungi, DFWO Dr. Sania Monica, CEO Lalthazam (MCS), AC-III to DC Shri Mangminthang Gangte, ZEO Esther Chingneikim, and officials from various departments.
