CWC fails to rescue children from the complex of Panthou at Wangkhei

Imphal, April 20: Combine team of four of Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Right; Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Imphal East; Manipur Alliance for Child Right and District Child Protection Unit (under Social Welfare Dept) has failed to rescue 33 childrens who are still stuck at the complex of Hijam Ratan “Panthou” due to the which conflict occurred on April 17 between the locals and the committee members of Panthou.
According to information received by our staff reporter from the incident place, there are 33 children’s below 18 years of age who are still stuck at the ritual place where 18 are boys and 15 are girls.
On receiving the news of the minor children’s from their parents, the combine team of child rights went to rescue them. While trying to rescue the minors, there were some rows between the committee members of Panthou and the child right teams. Committee members sought to the child rights team to rescue all the children’s including the locals not only the 33 children’s stuck at the ritual place.
A team of Imphal East Police personnel’s led by OC S.K Singh reach the spot and control the situation raised between the committee and the child rights teams.
It is known that the 33 children’s were put up by their parents for dance rehearsal at the ritual place of Panthou for the coming Sajibu Enat Ngaikham Kumhei commencing from April 22 till May 1 of 2016.
Unfortunately, these 33 children’s were stuck at the ritual place due to the ongoing conflict between the locals of Wangkhei Hijam Leirak and the committee members of Panthou since April 17.
Parents of these 33 children were let known by the concern authority to pick up their children’s from the ritual place to avoid unwanted happening at the conflict area but non turn up so far.
A committee member of Panthou said that parents have donated their children’s for Panthou as devotees and they no more have the right on their children.
On April 17, two vehicles was vandalized by locals of Wangkhei Hijam Leikai over a conflict between  committee members of Panthou over land demarcation which was bought in the name of Hijam Ratan @ Panthou at Hijam Leirak. Due to the conflict Hijam Ratan was boycotted by locals of Hijam Leirak to apologize for the act of barbarism done by his committee members and followers.
