CSOs, Meira Paibi groups staged protest rally

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Kangleipak on Sunday staged a torch rally at Awang Leikhinthabi in Potsangbam Khullen under Moirang subdivision, calling for an end to alleged atrocities by “Mayang forces” and demanding their withdrawal from the state.
The protest was spearheaded by Meira Paibi groups, elderly women, and a large number of women. The rally was staged at Awang Leikhinthabi, Potsangbam Khullen, Moirang and Langol Game Village. Participants assembled in the evening hours and marched with flaming torches, raising slogans against what they described as continued violence and repression in the region.
According to organisers, the demonstration was held in connection with the killing of civilians reportedly involving personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Langjing Achouba. The incident, they stated, has been observed annually as a reminder of the loss of innocent lives.
Speakers at the gathering expressed strong resentment over recent incidents of violence, particularly referring to developments in Tronglaobi and Ukhrul. The Meira Paibi leaders asserted that such occurrences have intensified public anxiety and mistrust, urging authorities to take immediate steps to ensure accountability and restore normalcy.
The protesters reiterated their demands for an immediate halt to alleged human rights violations, withdrawal of central forces from Manipur, and protection of civilians in conflict-affected areas. Placards and slogans highlighted calls for justice, peace, and respect for the rights and dignity of local communities.
The Manipur Innovative Youth Organisation Delhi (MAYOND) also extended support to the protest. In a statement, the organisation condemned the reported actions attributed to “Mayang forces” and voiced concern over the incidents in Tronglaobi and Ukhrul. Members of MAYOND joined the torch rally demonstration in solidarity, echoing demands for justice and long-term peace in the state.
