Misconceptions about the stoppage of almost all health care facilities in the state, with the global pandemic of COVID-19 occupying the space of all news mediums, Regional Institute of Sciences (RIMS) Imphal has proved everyone wrong by procuring latest and advanced MRI and ECHO machines among others.
Director of the RIMS, Dr. A. Santa while talking over the phone to Imphal Times said that the Institute he is heading now can boast of having the latest world-class MRI and ECO machines among others.
“Amidst financial constrains we felt its essential that RIMS have the latest medical science technologies and for that, we had ordered the latest world-class medical technologies including MRI machine from SIEMENS Company, Germany before COVID-19 pandemic begins”, Dr. Santa said adding that the MRI machine arrived yesterday along with others.
It may take a month for installation but RIMS now has the latest MRI machine, a proud Dr. Santa told Imphal Times.
RIMS currently have MRI facility but there have been complaints about the machine being obsolete and keeping in view of growing advancement in diagnostic research, the latest world-class machine to be installed at RIMS will help thousands of patients in the state.
Along with the MRI Machine, one latest ECHO Machine has also arrived and installed at the Cardiology Department of the hospital. In addition to the 2 Dialysis machines already installed in view of the COVID-19 investigation, 10 more new dialysis machines have also been arrived and installed. Except for the MRI, all installed technologies will start functioning within the next few days, Dr. Santa added.
RIMS at present is taking a lead role in the fight against COVID-19 having two VRDL Labs for testing the virus and also by opening a Covid care center separately inside the premises. Mentioned may be made that over 50 (fifty) more ventilators have so far arrived at RIMS and is ready to use at any time when called for. RIMS administration despite facing extreme hardship in transporting the technology seems committed to face the challenges in medical sciences.
When general people have the misconception about RIMS authority neglecting other diseases and concentrating only on COVID- 19, the latest addition of the mentioned latest technology including Germany’s SEIMEN Company MRI machine, 4 (four) new X-Ray machine and 6 (six) more latest ultra Sound Machine which arrived yesterday, the criticism about RIMS about having inadequate medical equipment is now history.
