Trouble maker Desmond Coutinho, who claimed himself as the fiancée of Irom Chanu Sharmila was arrested by a team of Imphal East police and remanded in judicial custody till January 8, 2015. Soon after the news of his detention, women activists of the state throng at Police picket at JNIMS and later at Imphal East Police station Porompat. However, police timely control the irate lady activists from committing any unwanted action. According to report Desmond Coutinho came at JNIMS security wards yesterday morning at around 5 am. Court permitted him to meet Sharmila from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm. However, Desmond Coutinho instead of waiting for the time shouted at the gate of the security wards using unofficial words. He was arrested by the police posted at JNIMS. Soon after his arrest large number of women came and throng at the police picket trying to assault Coutinho. Hower police brought the situation under control.
