Counter Blockade Continues

Imphal, June 18: In retaliation to the 10 day economic blockade imposed on National Highways, there has been spurt of counter blockades going on at various parts of the valley.
Women organisations, Meira Paibis, local clubs imposed counter blockades at Moirang Lamkhai, Tronglaobi, Kwakta Moirang Turel Mapal, Kangvai, Tera Khongsangbi. Volunteers of the local clubs and meira paibi check vehicles carrying goods towards hill districts at their respective localities.
Large number of people also imposed in Bishnupur district too.
Womenfolk, meira paibis, local clubs and youths came out in large numbers on the highways at Yourabung on Imphal-Ukhrul Road, at Khonghampat and Pheidinga on Imphal Dimapur Road and at Moidangpok on the Jiribam Road to impose the counter blockade by stopping several goods laden trucks, passenger services and private vehicles bound for the hill districts on the way.
Womenfolk and youths came out in large numbers at Sagolband Bijoy Govinda area on Imphal-Jiribam Road confiscating huge number of goods transported in different vehicles including passengers service from the areas leaving for hill districts.
State police deployed in the state remain as a mere spectators when the locals imposed counter blockade at many places. In the same way the police deployed in Hill area too remain helpless without doing anything to the blockade supporters of the JAC Churachandpur.
