Council of Teacher Association (COTA) Manipur, a joint body of All Manipur Elementary School Teachers Association, All Manipur Secondary School Teachers Association and all Manipur Higher Secondary Lecturers Welfare Association announced their support to all India general strike scheduled on September 2 organized by All India State Government Employees Federation and All India State Government Employees Confederation demanding 14 point to the government.
Speaking to the media person at Manipur Press Club today, secretary of COTA, Maisnam Joy said that the strike is called for the welfare of workers/employees demanding revival of government pension scheme by scraping the National Pension Scheme, regularization of casual/ contract post and also filling up of vacant post, amendment of abandon labour law, urgent measure for containing price rise through universalisation of Public distribution system and banning speculative trade in commodity market, etc.
In addition to the 14 points COTA added the demand for full implementations of 6TH pay and immediate construction of 7TH pay for the employees of Manipur state government.
