Contract teachers call economic blockade from Sept 26 midnight along the NHs

Imphal, Sept 25: Contract Basis Appointed Teachers Association (CBATA) of Senapati district has called indefinite economic blockade on Imphal to Dimapur raod and Imphal to Jiri road from mid-night of September 26 against the non-payment of salary as well as non regularization of their post.
Speaking to the media persons at Manipur Press Club today, president of the CBATA Karang Rangmei said that 136 contract teachers were appointed in the year of 2011 by the Government of Manipur. However till date, the appointed teachers did not get salary for the last 6 years. He also said that government has not taken up any initiative for regularization of the contract teachers.
Rangmei said the matter has been brought to the notice of the local MLA as well as the authority of the concern department and also served an ultimatum on September 17 to resolve the issue within seven days, however as no follow up action has been taken up the CBATA is left with no choice but to call the Indefinite economic blockade on the High Ways.
The economic blockade is being supported by Naga People’s Organization, Senapati District Student Organization and Senapati District Women Organization, Rangmei added.
