Consultation workshop on dementia held

Imphal, Sep 26: One day consultation program on Memory Walk & Northeast state initiative on dementia under the world Alzheimer’s month was jointly organised today by Regional Health and family Welfare Training Centre Govt. of Manipur, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science Nurses Association, etc., at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.

Speaking with Media persons, former Chairperson, Manipur State Social Welfare Board, former Director, Agriculture Department, Government of Manipur, R.K. Nayansana Devi said that the World Alzheimer’s day has been observed by International forum which includes 80 countries including India. The aim of observing the World Alzheimer’s day is to spread maximum awareness to the people about the disease called Alzheimer which is the most common form of dementia. To educate the people about the disease in one day will not be enough hence the whole month of September will be observed as World Alzheimer’s month, said Nayansana. She added that the disease of Alzheimer is not curable but if taken precaution and stay healthy balanced diet one can live a longer life. The one day consultation program is to give awareness to the patient’s family and to discuss what necessity the government provides and to discuss the role of the society.
