Congress urges Governor to convene special state Assembly session

IT News
Imphal, August 14:

Opposition Leader O. Ibobi Singh’s urged the Governor, to convene a special assembly session under Article 174 of Constitution to conduct a trust vote, as the 10th August trust vote violated Rules 311,360 & SC judgments.
The 6 pages representation received by Raj Bhavan cited violations of Rule No. 311 & 360 of Procedures & Conduct of Business of Manipur Assembly under 208 of the Constitution, and SC judgments in Union of India v. Harish Rawat of 2016 & Shivraj Singh Chouhan v. Speaker MP of 2020.
The letter by the CLP Leader & Opposition Leader O. Ibobi Singh to Manipur Governor is a clear reflection of the unprecedented constitutional blunder committed on the floor of the House, proving that there was no bonafide trust vote with counting of votes.
Manipur Pradesh Congress term it as not only murder of democracy but also the commission of the violations of established procedures, abuse of the Chair of Speaker, destruction of the Constitution & dishonouring of Supreme Court’s judgments. The Congress expects the Governor to intervene in this regard.
It may be mention that the ruling BJP party led by CM N. Biren Singh won a controversial trust motion by a voice vote, after several hours of debate on a trust motion moved by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in the One day special session held on 10th August.
