Imphal, May 22:

Various frontal organisations of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, including Mahila Congress, Seva Dal, Youth Congress, and NSUI Manipur, jointly submitted a memorandum to the Governor, the Chief Minister, and the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly in connection with the recent circulation of videos on social media and local media platforms, purportedly exposing a sex racket implicating prominent political figures.
The memorandum specifically highlighted the involvement of Kumarjit Laishram, who had previously faced punishment from an organization. According to Laishram’s account top government officials including two Ministers, were named in connection with the scandal. The memorandum pointedly noted the conspicuous absence of any personal clarifications from these VIPs regarding their alleged involvement.
In their submission, it emphasized the urgent need for transparency and accountability, particularly given the grave implications for public trust and women’s safety. “In such a situation, in the interest of the general public, particularly the women, we have decided to approach the State Government for initiating an enquiry to the satisfaction of the public as the authority is still silent over the issue,” the memorandum stated.
The team demanded the establishment of a special enquiry commission to thoroughly investigate the allegations. They called on the government to determine the veracity of the claims and ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.
