Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee today takes a dig at the BJP led government questioning why those individuals who have hurt the sentiments of the Meitei/Meitei community following Sanmahi religion at Sana Konung (Palace Compound). Video of some individuals mishandling the indigenous religion followers who were protesting for protection of the Pandit loishang complex has gone viral at social media.
Bhupendra Ningomba, spokesperson of MPCC, while speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan, BT road Imphal asked the government why those people who have hurt the sentiments of the indigenous religion followers are not arrested and punished. He further said that the BJP and the RSS are trying to convert the nation into one religion and one language India, by violating the provision of secularism provided in the constitution of India. “The way that the indigenous religion followers were mishandled by some individuals of the BJP at Pandit Loishang in palace compound is an indication of the BJP and RSS agenda one nation, one religion, and one language policy.
The Congress party stands firm to oppose any attempt to abolish a religion and establish another religion.
“Freedom to religion is our fundamental right, where is the freedom to religion?”, Bhupenda asked the government. He also said that when government funds are forbidden to use for religious purposes how could the BJP led government to construct structures for religion and that too with an attempt to demolish the indigenous religion.
