Congress candidate releases personal manifesto; outlines 13 key agenda

Imphal, April 17:

Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, the Congress candidate for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, has released his personal manifesto, expressing his commitment to instigating a transformation in the political landscape of Manipur.
During the manifesto unveiling, Akoijam outlined 13 key agendas he intends to pursue if elected as an MP. He addressed the challenges encountered during his campaign, stating, “My decision to contest this election is a commitment to reform and purify the system, transcending the realm of dirty politics.” He noted disruptions and targeted actions against his campaign, attributing them to those vested in maintaining chaos in the state.
Despite facing obstacles, including canceled meeting permits, unlike the unimpeded gatherings of the BJP, Akoijam remains steadfast in his resolve, asserting, “Efforts to coerce my withdrawal and stifle my voice are underway, but the people’s will shall prevail.”
The 13-point agenda of his personal manifesto includes initiatives such as fixing accountability for ongoing violence, supporting constitutional protection for Meitei, advocating for population policy and National Registrar of Citizenship, and promoting economic development and educational empowerment. Additionally, it encompasses measures to foster inter-community dialogue, enhance governance accountability, preserve indigenous arts and culture, initiate administrative reforms, and strengthen Manipur’s position within the Indian federal polity.
