A combined team of state police and Assam Rifles troopers has successfully rescued kidnapped trucks and drivers in less than 12 hours.
Report said that the trucks along with the drivers were kidnapped by unknown miscreants while returning towards Imphal along the Imphal –Dimapur road from Kangpokp district at around 5 am today morning.
A combined team special commando unit, Khabeisoi, led by OC L. Bebek Singh, KPI Police, and 22 AR KPI posts under the supervision of Krishnatombi Singh, SP/Railway & I/C Special Commando Unit, Khabeisoi, without delaying conducted a rescue operation.
A truck driver namely (1) Md. Anwar s/o Abdul Rahaman of Turtipur P.S. Nakhasa Shambhal of Uttar Pradesh pin no.244302 (2) Tauseef s/o Md.Shafeen of Turtipur Elha Shambhal of Uttar Pradesh Pin No. 244302 (3) Md. Kaleem, s/o (L) Md. Jaman of Hindu Pura Khera Uttar Pradesh truck bearing registration No. UT 38 T 5300 were rescued by combined teams of the Special Commando Unit.
A police source said that the truck drivers were abandoned by the said involved unknown miscreant cadres and ran down the hill slope from the NH-2 immediately on seeing the approaching combined teams of special commando, Kangpokpi Police and 22 AR.
The timely action of combined SF has rescued and saved the life of the truck drivers. All the victims have been handed over to the Vijay Kumar Gupta shop owner at Imphal Alu Gali. One FIR has been lodged by Kangpokpi Police Station for further investigation.
