COCOMI Women’s Wing has condemned the intimidation and threats by hired goons on women saying that as a society we have a history of treating women with respect.
The COCOMI Women’s Wing, represented by Coordinator R.K. Tharaksana spoke to media today on the attempted abduction of RK Ichanthoi on October 10 at the residence of R.K. Ichanthoi in Tera Amudon Khomnam Leirak.
According to reports, three men and two women forcefully attempted to abduct Ichanthoi around 8 pm that day. They seized her phone in the process. The COCOMI representatives suspect that these individuals may be hired goons or affiliated with private interest groups.
“While many boys and girls bravely fight at the front lines, there are also those who intimidate women,” stated RK Tharaksana. “We strongly condemn this act of aggression against a woman who has significantly contributed to the Meitei cause, despite not engaging in armed conflict.”
RK Tharaksana emphasized the importance of respecting women in society, asserting, “Some individuals are behaving inappropriately towards women. We do not stand with those who objectify and threaten them.”
COCOMI Women’s Wing demands the immediate cessation of such intimidation tactics and insists that the perpetrators return RK Ichanthoi’s phone.
