Imphal, April 27:

Coordination Committee of Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), has announced plans for an event commemorating the one-year anniversary of what they refer to as the “Narco terrorist invasion in Manipur.” Yumkhaibam Surjit Khuman, the coordinator of the COCOMI has announced that the event, scheduled for May 3, is aimed towards provide a platform for individuals affected by the violence to share their experiences, engage in discussions, and highlight the root causes of the violence to the Government of India. The event will take place at the Iboyaima Sumang Leela Sanglen, and the participation of the people of Manipur is encouraged.
COCOMI stresses the importance of maintaining focus and not allowing political affiliations to distract from addressing the issues at hand. They caution against reducing the situation to a debate between political parties, emphasizing that both the Congress and BJP have their share of responsibilities in the current state of affairs. Specifically, they point out that while Congress initiated the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, the BJP has not taken steps to repeal it, despite criticisms.
Surjit Khuman highlights the need for genuine patriotism, urging individuals and politicians alike to prioritize the interests of Manipur above political maneuvering. He emphasizes that patriotism should not be used as a tool for political gain, and calls for a sincere commitment to addressing the challenges facing the region.
On the other hand COCOMI spokesman, Khurajam Athouba Meitei while speaking to reporters said that despite a year of conflict, there is no visible sign of relief or a return to normalcy.
The spokesman also revealed that the organisation would issue an ultimatum at the public meeting. Documents and data related to the narco-terrorist aggression will also be presented.
The handling of the crisis by the government, the public’s understanding of the Suspension of Operation, illegal immigration, and poppy cultivation related to the crisis will also be discussed in the meeting.
