CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh visits Senapati via Kangpokpi, inaugurates development projects

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today visited Senapati district via Kangpokpi and inaugurated a series of development projects aimed at improving infrastructure and connectivity in the region.
The visit is significant as he became the first Chief Minister to travel by road through Kangpokpi district since the outbreak of the May 3, 2023 crisis in Manipur. During the journey, he also reportedly visited the residence of Haokhulet Kipgen at Henbung village in Kangpokpi district.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Loshii Dikho, MLAs T. Robindro, Kumo Sha and Awangbou Newmai, along with other officials.
At Senapati, he was accorded a warm reception by civil society organisations. At the Senapati District Auditorium, the Chief Minister inaugurated a multi-level parking facility and an Inter-State and Inter-District Agriculture and Economic Transportation Hub with a capacity of 147 vehicles. He also inaugurated multi-purpose community buildings at Khabaduikung and Sangkumei, and laid foundation stones for 69 Anganwadi centres under the SASCI scheme.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that people of the state have forgotten that we are Indian first and Manipuri second. Today the Naga, the Meitei and the Kuki don’t want to say that they are Manipuri first. He said that we should not forget that we are Manipuri and should move forward for peace and development. The Chief Minister while talking at the meeting said that he will start consulting with his cabinet regarding the demand of the people of Senapati for upgrading the Barak festival site and others.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister stated that the overall development of Manipur cannot be achieved without the progress of Senapati and Mao, stressing the importance of balanced and inclusive growth. He also expressed appreciation to civil society organisations, particularly the Naga People’s Organisation, for their role in efforts towards restoring normalcy in the state.
He stated that the projects would contribute to strengthening infrastructure, improving connectivity, and supporting local communities in Senapati district.
