To assure clean jerk for Congress candidate Dr. Elangbam Dwijamai in the Hiyanglam Assembly by poll scheduled to be held on Octber 17, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and other Council of Ministers and congress MLA today kicks campaign a Langmeidong public ground today.
On the other hand Union Home Minister of State Kiran Rijiju and National BJP leader Rameshwar Prasad Chaurasia today campaign for BJP candidate Maibam Dhanabir Singh.
Both the congress and the BJP consider the seat important not because of the number requirement factor but because to prove their credibility. BJP which got absolute majority in the parliament does not have a single MLA in the Manipur Legislative Assembly. It is pertinent or the political party to win this lone seat as BJP has to prove its growth among the people of the state. On the other hand congress party too even though do not need any more MLA with absolute majority in the state Assembly, the party have to win the by election to prove that people still have faith in the party.
Meanwhile Trinamool congress Party is also not lagging behind the competition. The party is playing card with the personality of its candidate Dr. Y Radheshyam.
On Saturday, tension runs high among the Congress workers and the supporters of All India Trinamool Congress Candidate Dr. Y. Radheshyam over the construction of the meeting platform at the ground. The AITC supporters argued the construction of the meeting platform saying that the meeting venue is just opposite to their candidate’s residence. On the other hand, the supporters of the congress candidates stand tight to organise the meeting at the ground saying that the ground is a public ground and every political party has the right to convened meeting there. A brief confrontation took placed between the two groups but police team which arrived on the spot timely intervene and put the situation under control. Since then police team has been deployed in the area to prevent untoward incident between the two groups.
According to report, large number of security force were seen today at the meeting venue as well as at other part of Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency as the Union Home Minister of State Kiran Rijiju attended the flag hoisting ceremony of BJP candidate M. Dhanabir.
All together 5 candidates are in the fray for the lone seat of the Hiyanglam Assembly constituency.
