Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today felicitated rescue team of 3 persons drowned in Mapithel Dam

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today felicitated rescue team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF),  Indian Navy team, Red Cross Society, Villagers of surrounding, Manipur Fire Service, Indian Army Manipur Police and locals who had rendered relentless effort in recovering the bodies of the three missing person in a mishap occurred on April 28 at Maphou Dam, in Ramrei area. 

In his facebook post, the Chief Minister wrote, “My sincere gratitude to all those who took part in the rescue operation of Maphou Dam tragedy, especially the teams from the Indian Navy, SDRF, NDRF, Manipur Fire Service, Manipur Police, Red Cross Society, Indian Army, CSOs, Govt officials, Indivisuals, villagers of Ramrei  and surrounding areas etc”.

The Chief Minister also honoured the local boat driver of Ramrei village who had rescued 9 sightseers when the boat carrying 12 persons capsized and submerged in the deep water reservoir of Mapithel dam after the boat got caught in the freak windstorm.

Had the boat driver not sailed the rescue boat on time towards the area where the boat capsized and submerged, lives of all the boating team might have lost.
