The government has been putting all efforts since 2017 to bring developmental changes across the State in both the hills and the valley, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said today.
The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest of the foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of multi-storied government quarters at Langol Housing Complex, Imphal West.
N. Biren Singh said that around two and half years were lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, despite the challenges, the government had made some big achievements, he added.
After the government return for the second term with the love of the people, it has lost around two years due to the present situation. But the government has not stopped, it has continued with developmental projects and at the same time work towards resolving the situation, the Chief Minister stressed.
N. Biren Singh said that the multi-storied housing quarter will be G+7 building. He further explainedthe need for vertical expansion to minimize land use.He further highlighted similar construction at New Checkon area where 13 high rises are being constructed as government quarters.
Stating that similar high rises will be constructed, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to care for nature, maintain neatness, cleanliness and ensure that drainage systems are not blocked.
He further explained the developmental project being taken up to rejuvenate Lamphalpat and said on its completion it can be used as recreational spot. He also spoke on the need for proper planning and vision while constructing structures.
While pointing out lost time due to various reasons and the fact that the State has a long rainy season, the Chief Minister urged the PDA and the concerned contractors to work day and night for timely completion of the building.
It may be mentioned that the project is being taken up at the Project Cost ofaround Rs.65.60 crore with funding of HUDCO with State share. The twin block of (G+7 building) has Dwelling Units of 64 numbers of Type-III having 2 Bedrooms, 1 Kitchen, 1 Living cum Dining Room, 2 attached toilets, balconies and other amenities.
The ceremony was attended by Health Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, Education Minister Th. Basanta Singh, Transport Minister Khashim Vashum, MLAs Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh, Karam Shyam, Usham Deben Singh, Th. Shyamkumar, Losii Dikho, officials among others.
