Chief Minister N. Biren Singh distributed skill certificates to 28 internally displaced persons (IDPs) who successfully completed training under the Centrally Sponsored State Managed (CSSM) component of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 Special Project for 2023-2024. The event was held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
The recipients of the certificates, currently residing in relief camps at Sawombung and Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong, were trained with assistance from the Manipur Seva Samiti and the Humanism Foundation. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to these organizations for their efforts in providing essential skills to the displaced individuals, empowering them for a better future.
During the event, N. Biren Singh outlined the government’s initiatives to support the trained individuals. Those who successfully completed their training can access collateral-free financial assistance of ¹ 50,000 to start small businesses in their respective fields. Additionally, they can avail loans of up to ¹ 10,00,000 with a 30 percent grant under state government schemes to expand their enterprises.
The Chief Minister also reiterated the government’s ongoing efforts to restore peace and ensure the safe return of displaced individuals to their homes in areas where the law-and-order situation has improved. He emphasized the commitment to bringing perpetrators of violence to justice while facilitating rehabilitation for affected communities.
N. Biren Singh urged people to avoid falling prey to misinformation or politically motivated narratives aimed at creating unrest. He called for unity and collective efforts to restore harmony in the state.
The program was attended by Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo Singh, MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh of Patsoi AC, representatives from the Humanism Foundation and Manipur Seva Samiti, and several residents of relief camps. This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to empowering internally displaced persons through skill development and financial support, providing hope and avenues for rebuilding their lives.
