Chickenpox outbreak in Senapati, 21 active cases reported

Imphal, Sept 13:

A chickenpox outbreak has been reported in Senapati District, Manipur, with 21 active cases identified so far. The affected group mainly comprises children between the ages of 6 and 15, most of whom are students of Purul Rosary High School in Senapati.
In response to the outbreak, 25 students who were previously infected have been discharged after showing significant improvement. As a precautionary step to prevent further spread of the virus, the Chief Medical Officer of Senapati District has ordered the temporary closure of Purul Rosary High School for seven days, starting from September 12.
Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged parents to take preventive measures to protect their children during the school closure.
