As part of the Aspirational District Programme’s Sampoornata Abhiyan 2024 campaign, conducted from July to September, an award distribution ceremony was held today at the Multipurpose Hall of the Mini Secretariat, DC Office Complex, Chandel, to honour various departments for their outstanding performance.
The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Chandel Laishram Nandakumar, SP Chandel Dharmendra Kumar, ADC Chandel Md. Firoz Khan, Additional SP (Law & Order) Chandel Chamna Anal, Additional SP (Operations) Chandel L. Sangkerjit, Deputy Commandant of the 8th Manipur Rifles W. Jadumani, SDO Chandel N. Pritam, and SDO Khengjoy Md. Gayaj Udeen, along with other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior Consultant of the Aspirational District Programme Chandel, Dearson Morung Tontang, highlighted that under the Aspirational District and Aspirational Block framework, as per the key indicators set by NITI Aayog, Chandel district has achieved saturation in five out of six indicators, while the Aspirational Block attained saturation in three out of six indicators. In recognition of these achievements, NITI Aayog conferred awards to the best-performing departments.
Dearson further noted that Sampoornata Abhiyan focused on key sectors including health, education, nutrition, agriculture, water resources, and social development. The indicators aimed at achieving 100 percent saturation, and Chandel’s performance—placing it among the achievers out of 112 districts and 500 blocks nationwide. In recognition of this accomplishment, awards were presented to officials and frontline workers.
