Chandel, March 20: In connection with the National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Awareness Week, Chandel’s Deputy Commissioner Kshetrimayum Robert Singh flagged off a Mass Rally at Chandel District Headquarters today.
The Mass rally organised by District Water and Sanitation Committee of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Chandel Division in association with the Christian Social Development Organization and Chandel District Private Schools Association was flagged off from Mini Indoor Stadium and proceeded to DC Ofiice Complex where a closing ceremony of the Awareness week was also held.
Large numbers of Student, Village Chiefs, Leaders of Civil Organisations including Chandel Naga Peoples Organisation (CNPO) took part in the Mass Rally by holding placards inscribed with the slogans “Adopt roof top rainwater harvesting, Conserve Water, Conserve Forest, Save tree Save water, More water clean sanitation, etc.”
Later on, a Closing Ceremony of the Awareness week was held at the DC Office Complex where Prizes of Essay Writing and Painting Competition, which was held earlier in connection with the awareness week, were also distributed to the 3 winners and 10 Consolations in each categories.
Chandel Naga Peoples Organisation’s President Ws. Kanral Anal, Executive Engineer of PHE Chandel Division M. Umakanta Singh, Christian Social Development Organization’s Secretary Rev. RD.Joykumar, PHE Chandel Division’s District Co-ordinator Jameson Bungdon and Chandel District Private Association’s Secretary Lh. Warngam also attended the closing ceremony.
