Binalakshmi Nepram, Founder of Manipur Women Gun Survivors Network has been named as the winner for the Femina Women Awards 2015 under Face of a Cause category.
She dedicated the award to mothers of Manorama, Nirbhaya, Irom Sharmila Chanu and women survivors, Ima (mothers) etc.
“Manorama’s mother Dedicate Femina Women Awards 2015 to Manorama’s mother, Nirbhaya’s mother, Sharmila’s mother, to women survivors, to Ima and to all the amazing women of Northeast region and of the country and world who are struggling through very unequal, violent times. Each one of us through our struggle living and surviving through these times and esp living through 60 years of wars and conflict in Northeast. More power to us all, to our collective efforts for our peace, justice and equal rights!” she posted on her Facebook wall after the announcement of the award.
She is a writer-activist who is working towards the disarmament movement in India. She founded the Manipuri Women Gun Survivor Network in 2007 to help thousands of women who are affected by gun violence in Manipur.
