Chadong villagers demands compensation and urged state govt. to respect PMO directives

Imphal, Oct 2: Chadong Village Authority has submitted a memorandum to the government of Manipur demanding payment of compensation for Rehabilitation and Resettlement package in respect of Non-recipients of the compensation of Chadong Village, Ukhrul district, who are displaced due to the construction of Mapithel Dam, Thoubal River Multipurpose Project. The Village authority demanded compensation for all the properties damaged by flooding, settlement of Rehabilitation  and Resettlement matter of Chadong Village through Heriditary Land Owners and also appealed to honour the directives of the Prime Minister Office forwarded to the government of Manipur.
In its memorandum the Chadong Village authority stated that the JAC- R&RCV of Chadong Village who had submitted Memorandum to the Governor of Manipur on September 17 , 2016 is a bugus committee who had accepted and withdrawn their own R&R package of Rs. 14,00,000/- in 2013 from the Government of Manipur. It further said that they had left their ancestral homes  and now are non-residents of Chadong Village.
The Village authority  urged the state government to declare Chadong Village as the most affected zone/area and demanded immediate arrangement of alternative means of livelihood for each of the affected family by providing at least a government job to each of the affected family besides special Pension Plan for each families.
