Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur Abdul Salam has chosen Hayel Hangoon Village in Thoubal district to develop as a model village under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) which was launched on October 11, 2014. Under the programme each MPs has been directed to utilise a portion of the fund allotted under the MP Local Area Development Fund by adopting a village under his constituency for its all-round economic and social growth and development so as to ensure a better life for the rural people.
Following the adoption of the village by the Rajya Sabha MP MD Abdul Salam, Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal District, Takhellambam Ranjit Singh along with the district level officer inspected the village for taking up developmental works.
Before inspecting the site, a public meeting was held at Hayel Hangoon Community Hall organised by the Pradhan of Hayel Hangoon and members of the Sekmaijin Zilla Parishad.
During the meeting Md. Sikandar, Pradhan of Hayel Hangoon said that the village has been lacking in all front of development as the government has not given proper attention from a long time. He said the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal District, Takhellambam Ranjit is the first government authority who had personally visited the village to inquire the conditions.
Speaking on the occasion Takhellambam Ranjit said that under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) each MP – i.e. Thangso Baite, Dr. Th Meinya and Abdul Salam has to adopt three village for developing into a model village under their Local Area development Fund. He said Hayel Hangoon is the first Village in Manipur approved for development of a Model village under the Prime Minister’s scheme. He further added that under the scheme 17 common service center of Thoubal district will coordinate to make the village a model village and appealed the villagers to be cooperative with the government machineries.
After the meeting the Deputy Commissioner inspected the condition of the health center, schools, canals constructed under Minor Irrigation and the also the codition of the ring band.
Hayel Hangoon Hayel Hangoon is a Village in Kakching Tehsil in Thoubal District of Manipur . It is located 18 KM towards South from District head quarters Thoubal and about 40 KM from State capital Imphal. The village is surrounded by Thoubal Tehsil towards North , Machi Tehsil towards East , Chandel Tehsil towards South , Imphal East Ii Tehsil towards North. This Place is in the border of the Thoubal District and Chandel District
