A three-day Capacity Building Workshop on “Income Generation through Natural Dyeing Technique: Sustainable Colour from Nature and Income Generation through Photography,” organised by the Jiribam Forest Division under the RAMP Scheme, concluded today at the PWD Guest House Hall, Jiribam.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Elangbam Nirmala Chanu stated that the Manipur Forest Department is focusing on promoting alternative livelihood opportunities for unemployed youth while reducing dependency on forest resources.
She said the Jiribam Forest Division has been conducting various training programmes, including bee keeping, ornamental candle making, bamboo and cane craft, natural dyeing techniques, and photography, to encourage economic self-sustainability among local residents.
The DFO also highlighted the importance of biodiversity conservation and said awareness activities such as painting competitions help instill environmental consciousness among students at the grassroots level.
During the function, appreciation certificates and cash prizes were distributed to winners of the District Level On-the-Spot Painting Competition held on May 6 as part of the observance of the International Day for Biological Diversity 2026 under the theme “Acting Locally for Global Impact.”
Certificates were also distributed to participants who successfully completed the workshop.
