Imphal, Aug 4:
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) representing candidates who appeared for the Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) written test under the Directorate of Education (S) in Manipur for the 2016-2018 batch has threatened to intensify their agitation through a hunger strike starting August 7.
According to the JAC, in 2016-18, the Directorate of Education (S) announced 413 posts for MTS, and the written test was conducted. However, the recruitment process has since been stalled, causing significant frustration among candidates.
Approximately 26,000 candidates who took the exam are disheartened as they have sought an appointment to meet the Chief Minister for the last seven to eight years, but the CM has never given them a chance to meet.
The JAC has expressed concern over the age limit, as 50% of the candidates are nearing or have crossed the age bar. They demand immediate action to address this issue to ensure fair opportunities. During the assembly session on August 2, opposition MLA Ranjit from Sugnu Kendra questioned the delay. Education Minister Th. Basantakumar’s response in the assembly, according to the JAC, was unsatisfactory.
The JAC demands that Education Minister Th. Basantakumar should order that the results be released by August 6. If this is not done, the JAC plans to intensify their agitation starting August 7 with a hunger strike.
