The Border Road task Force (BRTF) has sought permission from the state government to shut down NH 37 for 7 days starting from October 24 till October 30, as movement of vehicles may hindered works for repairing the portion of NH-37 which is in the most deteriorated condition. According to the BRTF, the road stretch of around 6 Km at Makru area has been fully deteriorated by over loaded railways traffic and rains of 700mm in September 2016. It said over 100 loaded trucks belonging to NF Railway has been plying on the road everyday on both ways. As the portion of road need immediate repairmen the BRTF seek permission from the state government to stop plying all sorts of vehicles along the route for seven days before any unwanted incident happened.
The Barak BSB is also reportedly damaged after a crack occurred on the night of Oct 21. The bridge is also in need of urgent repairmen and the BRTF said that if vehicular movement are not halt it would be impossible to repair either the bridge or the 6 Km road stretch.
