Chingakham Naoba Singh of Yairipok Yambem in Imphal East district, the brother of martyred BSF personnel and Vir Chakra awardee Late Deepak Chingakham, has been appointed as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in the Manipur Police Department.
The appointment was made in recognition and honour of his brother’s supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during Operation Sindoor.
Late Deepak Chingakham, serving with the Border Security Force, laid down his life while displaying exemplary courage and gallantry in the operation, for which he was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra, one of India’s highest wartime gallantry awards. His bravery and devotion to duty continue to remain an enduring source of pride and inspiration for the people of Manipur and the nation.
By appointing his younger brother Chingakham Naoba Singh into the police force, the state government has sought to honour the legacy of the martyr and extend recognition to the family’s sacrifice for the country.
