A powerful 45 kg bomb was safely defused by the State Police Bomb Disposal Squad after it was discovered at Langathel Chingol under Thoubal Police Station around 4:30 pm.
The explosive was detected in a truckload of sand delivered on August 28 at around 8:20 am for the construction of a house belonging to Moirangthem Nabachandra (57) of Khangabok Part-3 Makha Leikai. The sand had been transported in a Tata Dumper truck from Heirok Turel, where the bomb was found beneath the sand.
Thoubal Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident and launched further investigation.
