New Delhi, Sept 11:
The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2024 to 15 nursing professionals in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The awards recognized their outstanding commitment to duty and service to the community. Among the awardees was Ms. Brahmacharimayum Amusana Devi from Manipur.
The event was attended by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel, and other dignitaries.
Instituted in 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Florence Nightingale Award acknowledges the meritorious services of nurses and nursing professionals across India. The award is presented in categories including Registered Auxiliary Nurses & Midwife, Registered Nurses and Midwife, and Registered Lady Visitor. It honors exceptional individuals employed by the Central and State/UT governments, as well as voluntary organizations.
Each award consists of a Certificate of Merit, a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000, and a medal, recognizing the recipients’ contributions in hospital or community settings, educational or administrative roles.
