Blind School students launch indefinite class boycott

Imphal August 5: Reacting strongly against the inaction of the state government to fulfill the demands made by the students of Ideal Blind School, Takyel, the only blind school in the state, students of the school launched indefinite class boycott from today.A sit-in-protest was staged today in front of gate of the school demanding to provide basic needs of the school.Finance Secretary of the students’ union of Ideal Blind School, Takyel, J. Ruben said that the students of the school submitted two memorandums to the state Government in August, 2013 and March, 2014, drawing attention of the government to fill-up the vacant posts of teachers including 2 grade-IV, to ensure regular health care of the hostellers, to provide Braille text books and reading materials, recreation facility and construction of pacca foot path inside the school campus for easy, and free movement from Hostel to kitchen and school. However, the state government has not respond to the demands of the blind students.Besides, the students demanded an emergency vehicle for the school.
