Imphal, Oct. 7: The political landscape in the state has took a new shape after one of the big shots of Indian National Congress, N Biren Singh resigned from his MLA and also withdrawn his primary membership of the party on Thursday.
Apart from his political acumen and long political career at different capacities, the former Member of Legislative Assembly (Heingang A/C), Biren, who is also a Vice-president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, is one of the key architects of the incumbent Chief Minister, O Ibobi-led Congress government in the state.
His act of relinquishing association with the INC makes headlines in the local media and at the same time the buzz among the political party has becoming louder.
Signaling green light to possible joining of the former Minister and Spokesperson of Manipur Government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh has already laid red carpet.
Welcoming the former Congress strong-man to saffron fold, Vice-president of BJP, Manipur Pradesh, Moirangthem Asnikumar Singh said that two Congress legislatures MLAs namely Y Irabot Singh of Wangkhei and N Biren Singh of Heingang Assembly Constituency have resigned from their respective MLAs and primary membership of INC.
“The resignation of the two Congressmen is the clear indication of their frustration towards the hegemonic nature of Congress high commands in the national Capital and nepotism as well as corrupt activity of handpicked cabinet of Ibobi-led Congress government in the state,” said Asnikumar.
Y Irabot Singh, who had resigned last month, has joined the BJP, while Biren’s joining would be decided after due consultation with party higher ups. However, the duo would be playing the role of ‘game changer’ in the ensuing election to the Manipur Legislative Assembly- 2017.
“Falling of Congress government is certain and no power could stop BJP from forming government in the state following the election likely to be held in the month of January this year,” said Asnikumar.
While informing that some major political development will take place in the few days, the BJP VP has also appealed the people of Manipur to render their duty of elector and voted out ‘corrupt’ government from the soil of Manipur.
