In a press briefing this afternoon, M. Asnikumar Singh, Spokesperson of BJP, Manipur Pradesh, and Chairman of Loktak Development Authority (LDA), Govt of Manipur, provided insights into the recent Union interim budget 2024 and the White Paper on the Indian Economy.
Reflecting on the state of the economy in 2014 when their government took charge, M. Asnikumar Singh acknowledged the challenges posed by corruption, mismanagement, and financial issues. The emphasis was on instilling hope and attracting investments to overcome these challenges. The spokesperson highlighted the Policy Paralysis and Project Delays faced by the previous UPA government, citing instances of corruption that shook public confidence.
Shifting focus to the achievements since 2014, M. Asnikumar Singh pointed out advancements in digital innovation, public health improvements, and diversification of exports. The government’s commitment to undoing past damage and making India a strong player in the global economy was emphasized, evidenced by India’s transformation from fragility to one of the top performers. Key achievements included record foreign exchange reserves exceeding USD 620 billion and robust infrastructure and defense measures for national security.
The spokesperson underscored the government’s commitment to inclusive policies, emphasizing “sabka sath, sabka vikas.” Initiatives like Start-Up India and Mudra Yojana were highlighted to support entrepreneurship and provide accessible credit. Transparent fiscal reforms, including the introduction of GST, were cited as pivotal steps in improving public finances.
The Union Budget 2024, according to M. Asnikumar Singh, places significant emphasis on the welfare of the poor, women, youth, and farmers. Infrastructure, tourism, logistics, and research innovation are targeted for sustainable economic growth, particularly in the eastern region. The government aims for fiscal responsibility, targeting a fiscal deficit of 4.5% of GDP by FY26.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Team Modi, M. Asnikumar Singh conveyed confidence in BJP’s success in the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024. The spokesperson envisioned a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, steering the nation towards development, progress, and superpower status.
