The BJP Manipur Pradesh held a press conference at its office situated at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal today afternoon in which Th Chaoba, state President and RK Shiva, spokesperson of the party, among other BJP officials participated. Contending that the current issues besieging the state Government are serious and needs to be thought out in details and addressed at the earliest, the officials present expressed dissatisfaction on the manner in which the present government has tried to scuttle the issues by serving empty rhetoric instead of concrete actions which are sustainable and lasting. It was also disclosed to the media persons present that the current issues fall under the purview of the state law and order and as such should be resolved by the state Government, adding that the question of immediate intervention or direction from the centre for every decision or action does not arise nor has been the case. Alleging that the state Government is non-committal to the burning problems arising out of the prolonged bandhs and blockades along the National Highways which is putting a heavy toll on the daily lives of the public in the state, the party officials decried the deliberate negligence of the government, as had been the case when the state faced economic blockade for 110 days in 2011called by UNC while the UPA was in power at the centre and the SPA Government in the state. It was also alleged that the present situation of a few social organizations taking the law into their own hands is a compelling example of the failing law and order situation in the state, the spokesperson also highlighted the practice of announcing holiday for schools in Manipur on the slightest pretext while the general convention the world over is to leave these educational institutions alone even during wartime.
