BJP Central leadership committed to safeguarding Manipur’s territorial integrity: Sharda Devi

Rajya Sabha MP and Manipur BJP president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi today asserted that the BJP’s Central leadership remains firmly committed to safeguarding Manipur’s territorial integrity and categorically ruled out the possibility of any separate administration in the state.

She made the remarks while addressing a programme organised to welcome retired Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Gaigongdin Panmei into the Bharatiya Janata Party as an active member from the 53-Tamenglong Assembly Constituency.

Sharda acknowledged that the prolonged ethnic conflict has led to widespread public frustration, with some sections blaming the BJP for the prevailing situation in the state. However, she maintained that such perceptions do not reflect the party’s commitment towards Manipur.

Stating that the BJP remains steadfast in protecting the state’s unity and integrity, she said the party’s central leadership is fully committed to preserving Manipur’s territorial boundaries and that there would be no separate administration under any circumstances.

Appealing to the people to continue supporting the BJP, Sharda said political stability is essential for safeguarding the state’s future and expressed confidence that the restoration of a BJP-led government would help address the challenges confronting Manipur.

Expressing concern over the continued ethnic conflict, she observed that prolonged unrest has adversely affected the state’s development and normal life. She called for dialogue, reconciliation and collective efforts to restore peace, urging all communities to work together for a stable and prosperous Manipur.

Rejecting allegations that the BJP is a communal party, Sharda cited the election of former President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and President Droupadi Murmu, as well as the observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, as examples of the party’s commitment to inclusive representation and recognition of diverse communities.

Welcoming Gaigongdin Panmei into the party, Sharda described the retired IRS officer and former Principal Director General of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) as an experienced administrator whose entry would strengthen both the BJP organisation and public service in the state.

Panmei formally joined the BJP as an active member representing the 53-Tamenglong Assembly Constituency during the programme.
