A team of Bishnupur police led by the District additional Superintendent of police Ronie Mayengbam seized a large quantity of heroin powder hidden in an interstate bus service today.
Report said that the inter-state bus bearing registration number MN-01-1938 coming towards Imphal from Churachandpur drive without stopping police order who hold them in a suspicious manner.
The police teams led by Additional SP of Bishnupur district, Ronie Mayengbam chased the bus and stopped it at Maibam Chingning Leimaram Mamang Lamkhai under Nambol Police station.
When searching, the police team found 87 soap cases containing 13 grams of heroin powder hidden under the seat and body of the bus driver’s cabin.
Additional SP Ronei while talking to the media said that the bus driver first told the police that he had carried 57 soap cases from Churachandpur to be transported to Shillong. However, when the police team searches the wall of the cabin they found more soap cases hidden.
The passenger was later sent to another bus and the bus along with the driver and the handyman were arrested and handed over to Nambol police.
