Imphal, Nov 10:
The Bharatiya Kisan Samelan, led by its General Secretary Telem Dara Singh, addressed the press at the Imphal Press Club, condemning the recent attack by suspected Kuki terrorists, which led to the tragic death of Sapam Sofia, a farmer from Kumbi. Dara Singh urged the state and central governments to prioritize protecting the people of Manipur over territorial divisions between the hills and the valley, calling the ongoing situation “no business as usual.”
Sofia Sapam, the wife of Dayananda and mother of three children, was fatally shot by terrorists while working in her paddy field. The Bharatiya Kisan Samelan highlighted the gravity of these attacks and demanded immediate action to eliminate terrorist threats in the state, stressing that safeguarding citizens should take precedence.
The organization announced plans for a campaign in November, aimed at pressuring the government to take decisive measures for peace and security. “We are preparing for it, and we are urging the government to act,” Dara Singh stated, emphasizing the necessity of strong intervention against militancy.
